Dissolution of Punjab Assembly: What will happen next?

Pervaizalhi, governor Balighur Rehman has received a summary of the dissolution
of the assembly. After signing the summary, the Punjab Assembly will be
dissolved.

According to Article 112 of the Constitution, the
Governor can dissolve the Assembly on the advice of the Chief Minister. After
the dissolution of the Assembly, the Election Commission of Pakistan will fix
the date of new elections within 60 days under Article 113 of the Constitution.
Before the election, the Leader of the House (Chief Minister) and Leader of Opposition Hamza Shehbaz will have 7 days to nominate a caretaker setup as per mutual understanding. In case of failure to do so, the Election Commission will nominate a caretaker setup.
Once the Assembly is dissolved, it will lose its legislative powers and its members will vacate office as per Article 113 of the Constitution.
As per the Representation of the People Act, 1976, the
ECP will monitor the conduct of elections and ensure that they are free and
fair as per Article 218 of the Constitution while political parties will begin
the process of nominating candidates for the elections.
As per the Political Parties Order 2002, the campaign
for the elections will be started by holding party rallies and public meetings
to garner public support.
According to Article 218 of the Constitution of
Pakistan, on the day of the election, citizens will exercise their right to
vote to elect the members of the new assembly, while after the polling, the
Election Commission will announce the official results of the election.
Based on the election results, the political parties
will start negotiations to form a coalition government or a one-party
government as per Article 113 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
According to Article 131 of the Constitution of Pakistan,
the new government will be sworn in by the Governor of Punjab, after which the
process of governance will begin.

The PML-top N's leaders met at the Prime Minister's residence in Lahore, where the PM gave the governor of Punjab instructions on how to carry out his constitutional duties. The meeting also covered provincial elections as well as constitutional and legal options.

Sources say that the summary of the dissolution of the
assembly sent by the Chief Minister Punjab will be approved by the Governor
Punjab by this evening.
Sources have claimed that the Punjab government will
be completely dissolved tonight, and the caretaker chief minister Pervaiz
Elahi's notification will be issued, the Governor of Punjab will issue a
gazette notification of the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Mehmood Khan says
that after the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly, he will send an advice to
the governor to dissolve the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on January 14.
