Procedure for election of mayor in law
After the final results, the next phase for the local
government system will begin
After the final results of the local elections, the next phase for the local government system will begin, in which the mayors of the cities will be elected.
According to the results of local body elections,
Pakistan People's Party has won the field while Jamaat-e-Islami is second and
Tehreek-e-Insaf is third.
Muslim League (N), JUI (F), TLP and Mahajir Qaumi
Movement have also been declared successful in some UCs, apart from this,
independent candidates have also been elected chairman and vice-chairman in 2
UCs.
Procedure for Election of Mayor
According to the Sindh Local Government Bill, after
the final results of the local government elections, the next phase for the
local government system will begin, in which the directly elected members will
elect representatives for specific seats and subsequently the mayor, deputy
mayor and town chairman.
The KMC House will consist of 367 members, of which
246 members will be directly elected UC Chairman while 121 members will be
elected on the basis of party representation on reserved seats.
According to the law, 81 seats are reserved for women,
12, 12 for workers, minorities and youth and 2, 2 for transgender and special
needs members.
