PPP won three seats, while PTI received none.
In the central district
of Karachi, where votes were held for 42 of the seats, Jamaat-e-Islami won 39
seats and PPP won three, defeating both the PTI and the PPP in the municipal
elections. While none of the PTI candidates could win.
Results of the second round
of local body elections, which were held on January 15 in a number of Sindhi
cities, including Karachi and Hyderabad, are now being announced.
There are 45 Union
Councils (UCs) in Karachi's Central District; of those, 42 seats were up for
election, and Jamaat-e-Islami won 39 of them.
Jamaat-e-Asim Islami's
Ali Makhdumi won with 3139 votes, while Tehreek-e-Fida Insaf's Hussain received
2395 votes from Central District Gulberg Town UC One Shafiq Colony.
Faisal Shaikh, a
candidate for Jamaat-e-Islami, received 5567 votes from Gulberg Town UC 2
Sumanabad, the central district, whereas Mohsin, a candidate for
Tehreek-e-Insaf, received 2631 votes.
In Central Gulberg Town
UC-3, Afaq Baig of Jamaat-e-Islami triumphed with 4,483 votes, followed by
Muhammad Saleem of Tehreek-e-Insaf with 2168.
Syed Mutiullah Hussaini
of the Jamaat-e-Islami won the election from central Gulberg Town UC-4
Nasirabad with 4228 votes, while Mohammad Imran Alam Siddiqui of the
Tehreek-e-Insaf received 3433 votes.
Muhammad Iqbal of the Jamaat-e-Islami
party received 4633 votes from Nazimabad Town UC, making him the winner.
Muhammad Ashraf Jabbar of the Tehreek-e-Insaf received 1980 votes, placing him
in second place.
Kashifuddin Shamsi of
Jamaat-e-Islami won with 3842 votes, while Almas Baig of Tehreek-e-Insaf
received 1505.
Muhammad Saleem of the
Jamaat-e-Islami won the election from District Central Nazimabad Town UC-7
Gulbahar with 1618 votes, while Awad Ahmed of the Tehreek-e-Insaf received 820
votes.
Syed Shah Muhammad Kamal
of the Jamaat-e-Islami won the election from the Central District Nazimabad
Town UC 5 Rizvia Society with 3,179 votes, while Muhammad Shahbaz Raza Naqvi of
the Tehreek-e-Insaf received 2,244 votes.
Javed Bakak of the PPP
won the Nazimabad Town UC 6 Firdous Colony central district with 3,059 votes,
while Nadeem Qureshi of the Jamaat-e-Islami received 1501 votes.
In Central District North
Nazimabad Town UC-1, Syed Shahzad Mazhar Zaidi of Jamaat-e-Islami received
6,893 votes, while Muhammad Ahsan Jameel of Tehreek-e-Insaf received 2,800
votes.
Amir Ali of the
Tehreek-e-Insaf received 3598 votes, while Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Farhan
Sohail received 9035 votes from Central District North Nazimabad Town UC-2.
Abdul Hameed of the
Jamaat-e-Islami won in the Central District North Nazimabad Town UC-3 with 2841
votes, while Syed Ejaz Ali of the Tehreek-e-Insaf received 2094 votes.
Muhammad Abrar of the
Jamaat-e-Islami won the Central District North Nazimabad Town UC-4 buffer zone
with 6428 votes, defeating Kashif Najam of the Tehreek-e-Insaf with 2807 votes.
Javed Alam Siddiqui of
the Tehreek-e-Insaf received 1910 votes, while Naveed Zafar of the
Jamaat-e-Islami received 3714 votes in the Central District North Nazimabad
Town UC-5.
Muhammad Atif Bakai of
Jamaat-e-Islami won the Central District North Nazimabad Town UC-7 seat with
6,099 votes, while Saif Bari of the Tehreek-e-Insaf received 4,100.
Nazimabad Town District
Central North UC 8 Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, a candidate for the Jamaat-e-Islami,
received 6388 votes, while Sahibzada Khan, a candidate for the PPP, received
949.
Dil Muhammad of the
Jamaat-e-Islami won the Central District North Nazimabad Town UC-9 by receiving
3747 votes, while Aul Khan of the Tehreek-e-Insaf received 1977.
Sahib Jamal, a candidate
for the Jamaat-e-Islami, won the District Central North Nazimabad UC 10
election with 2621 votes, while Malik Umar Daraz, a candidate for the
Tehreek-e-Insaf, received 2427 votes.
With 1768 votes, Sajid
Hasan of Jamaat-e-Islami won the election for chairman. Muhammad Naveed of the
PPP came in second with 1636 votes.
Muhammad Ahmar Khan of
Jamaat-e-Islami won with 2380 votes in UC-2 of Central District New Karachi
Town. Malik Ahsan of Tehreek-e-Insaf received 2347 votes, placing him in second
place.
Muhammad Ali Arshad of
Jamaat-e-Islami won the District Central New Karachi Town UC-3 election as
chairman with 2263 votes, beating out Muhammad Owais Ansari of the PTI with
2228 votes.
In District Central New
Karachi Town UC-5, Ata-ur-Rehman Ansari of Jamaat-e-Islami won with 2039 votes
and Ahmed Raza of Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan received 1168 votes.
Rehmat Ali of the
People's Party received 806 votes and was proclaimed the winner of District
Central New Karachi Town UC 6.
With 3,403 votes,
Jamaat-e-Khalid Islami's Mehmood won the Central District New Karachi Town UC-8
election. Tehreek-e-Farhan Insaf's Saleem Ghori came in second with 1617 votes.
With 2,0135 votes from
District Central New Karachi Town UC 9, Abbas Sheikh of Jamaat-e-Islami was
proclaimed the winner. Mohsin Ali of Tehreek-e-Labaik received 1219 votes,
placing him in second place.
With 4958 votes to
Muhammad Yusuf's 2039, Faisal Ahmed of Jamaat-e-Islami won the election for
chairman of District Central New Karachi Town UC-10.
With 3,249 votes, Jameel
Ismail of the PTI emerged in second place with 1660 votes in District Central
New Karachi Town UC 11. Ghazanfar Ali Khan of the Jamaat-e-Islami was
proclaimed the winner.
Obaid Ahmed of the
Jamaat-e-Islami won the election after receiving 1818 votes from the Central
District Liaquatabad Town UC Char Musa Colony, while Zahoor Hassan of the
Tehreek-e-Insaf received 1260.
